The opportunity

Remediation that outlives the programme

Our client’s cyber risk was out of tolerance and inconsistent across group companies, requiring strategic rationalisation.
The harder question was what happens afterwards: programme-delivered remediation decays unless it is absorbed into daily operational routine, with named ownership and standing governance.

What we delivered

Governance, controls and daily operational capability

Established and managed the Group Cyber Security Programme, chairing security governance committees, delivering programme controls and reporting structures, leading technical implementations and supporting security strategy.
Built BAU capabilities ensuring that programme remediations were embedded into daily operational capability, sustaining continued compliance with NIST CSF best practice.
Cleared the backlog of critical vulnerabilities, delivered a NIS-D Corrective Action Plan and completed PCI remediation.
Facilitated secure, accelerated migration to cloud-based infrastructure, improving security posture and supporting the board objective to reduce on-premise IT costs through data centre migration.
Enhanced user and data protection through Microsoft Defender ATP deployment, supported by staff training and infrastructure controls such as File Integrity Monitoring.
Implemented a group IDAM function with integrated MFA, enhancing inter-company operational savings whilst reducing the internal and external attack surface.
Created a SOC integrated with a Web Application Firewall to enhance protection of key operational services.

The outcome

A capability the group runs itself

Working with the Group CISO and CEO, implemented a group security capability to co-ordinate and deliver remediation of NIST CSF assessment findings.
Improvements in controls across group security were achieved, alongside realised cost savings and enhanced threat detection, response and recovery capabilities — addressing critical regulatory compliance and operational vulnerabilities.
