Intelligent Automation

Automation whose value you can actually prove

Federated automation strategy, target operating models and delivery teams — with real-time, auditable benefits reporting built in from the start. Because the business case asserted at kick-off is rarely the one anyone measures afterwards.

Our approach

Trusted automation, delivered transparently

We specialise in providing trusted Intelligent Automation solutions, delivered with a transparent ethos that fosters strong client engagement and stakeholder collaboration. Our services draw on a deep understanding of complex operational environments — the kind where a badly designed automation does not simply fail quietly, but propagates.

The outcome we are engaged for is efficiency gain, revenue growth and competitive edge. The outcome we insist on is that you can evidence it.

How we engage

You work directly with our senior practitioners, integrated with your internal teams as a cohesive unit rather than a parallel workstream. Our services are tailored to the operational realities of your sector, not lifted from a reference architecture.

How we run it

Four stages, and the one most programmes skip

Automation programmes rarely fail at deployment. They fail afterwards, when nobody can say what the deployed estate is actually worth, which automations have quietly broken, and whether the original business case held. We close that loop by instrumenting it from the beginning.

Stage 01 Discover

Establish where value actually sits, using evidence rather than opinion.

Stage 04 · The differentiator Measure

Prove the value, in the currency your CFO reports in.

The loop closes. Measured outcomes feed the next discovery cycle, so the pipeline is prioritised on demonstrated return rather than on whoever asked most recently.

In our experience, programmes commonly stop at Stage 03. The business case is asserted at approval, the automations go live, and the value is never independently verified. Some years on, nobody can say what the estate is worth — which tends to be the point at which finance starts asking whether it should exist at all.

What we do

Six integrated disciplines

Commissioned individually, or sequenced as a programme. Most engagements draw on more than one.

01

Strategic IA Planning & Implementation

We partner with you to develop and deploy comprehensive, federated Intelligent Automation strategies tailored to your business objectives — aligning initiatives with your long-term vision rather than chasing isolated wins.

  • Greenfield automation capability — establishing a new group IA function from a standing start, with its integrated operating model
  • Federated design, so operating companies retain appropriate autonomy while the group gains consistency and buying power
  • Roadmap sequencing that puts foundational work before showcase work
  • Scalable architecture, so the second hundred automations cost less to run than the first

02

Target Operating Model & Process Optimisation

Customised Target Operating Models that streamline how automation is owned and run. We analyse existing processes, identify where improvement is available, and address the debt that accumulates underneath an unmanaged estate.

  • Target Operating Model design and implementation — roles, decision rights, run responsibilities, escalation
  • Value Stream Mapping and Six Sigma applied to re-imagine processes before automating them
  • Remediation of technical and process debt, so you are not automating a broken process at speed
  • Resource allocation optimisation and return on IA investment

03

Automated Benefits Realisation & Reporting

Transparent, real-time reporting that tracks and demonstrates the tangible value and EBITDA impact of your automation estate. Fully automated and auditable, so the numbers survive scrutiny from finance and from audit.

  • Real-time benefits tracking against the approved business case, per automation
  • EBITDA impact expressed in the terms your CFO already reports
  • Auditable by design — the calculation, its inputs and its assumptions are all inspectable
  • Clear insight into which automations are earning their run cost and which should be retired
  • Evidence to optimise the pipeline for profitability rather than volume

04

Scalable Cloud & Technology Integration

Cloud-based delivery and integration of advanced technologies, giving on-demand scalability and robust automation capability that adapts as the business changes.

  • Supplier-agnostic managed automation services, leveraging leading RPA technologies rather than a single vendor relationship
  • Cloud-native delivery across the major platforms, with capacity that flexes to demand
  • Integration with existing enterprise systems, rather than a parallel estate nobody reconciles
  • Managed service orchestration — running the RFP, establishing the capability and onboarding specialist providers

05

Innovation & Value Stream Mapping

We drive innovation through strategic partnerships and collaborative engagement, expanding the reach of automation across your organisation — and we bring the emerging techniques that materially change what is automatable.

  • Process mining and communication mining — finding the real process from system and message evidence, not from workshops
  • Agentic orchestration roadmaps, where multi-step judgement work becomes tractable
  • Unstructured data extraction, using data scientists and LLM engineers on documents, email and free text
  • Value Stream Mapping to locate optimisation opportunity across the whole flow
  • Automation integration for faster market release, improved market share and enhanced NPS

Complete Team Augmentation & Governance

End-to-end team support, from strategic leadership through to technical delivery — with governance that prioritises compliance and security. We integrate with your internal teams and act as a cohesive unit.

  • Interim and project roles across the full range, from CIO and CTO through technical implementation to business-as-usual run teams, across the UK and EU
  • Robust governance processes safeguarding your data and the reliability of the automation estate
  • Team building — guiding you in establishing and transitioning to in-house capability, so the dependency on us is deliberate and temporary
  • Service transition into BAU operation, documented and handed over

What we look for first

Automating a broken process makes it break faster

Two forms of debt sit underneath most stalled automation programmes. Both are cheaper to address before scaling than after, and both are routinely skipped because neither is visible in a demo.

What we look for

Process debt

The process has accumulated exceptions, workarounds and undocumented local variation. Automating it encodes all of that permanently, at machine speed, and makes the workaround load harder to see. We re-imagine the process first, using Value Stream Mapping and Six Sigma, then automate what remains.

What we look for

Technical debt

Automations built by different teams, on different tooling, against interfaces nobody owns. Each works. Collectively they are unmaintainable, and the run cost climbs until the estate stops being viable. The Target Operating Model is what prevents this, which is why we build it before the volume arrives.

Where our practices meet

Automation runs with privilege. That makes it a security question

An automation logs into systems, moves data and acts on behalf of a human — often with standing credentials and broad access. Most automation consultancies do not think about this. We began as a cyber security practice, so it is the first thing we look at.

Automation identity, held properly

We design security controls for robotic process automation and integrate them with privileged access management, so bot credentials are vaulted, rotated and session-recorded like any other privileged account.

Citizen development, governed

Low-code platforms put build capability in the hands of the business. We have written the policy that keeps that productive rather than dangerous — including a Power Apps policy for secure and consistent deployment across a FTSE 100 estate.

Agentic AI, inside a framework

Where automation starts exercising judgement, governance stops being optional. Our AI Governance practice provides the risk framework, vetting gate and named ownership that agentic deployment requires.

Why Cyberbase

An automation practice that came from security

Most automation consultancies grew out of process consulting or out of a vendor partnership. We grew out of cyber security and information governance, and it changes what we do first.

What the business wants

Speed and measurable return

Efficiency gain, revenue growth and competitive edge — evidenced in the numbers finance already reports.

What the estate needs

Ownership, control and audit

Credentials held properly, change managed, benefits provable, and a named owner for every automation in production.

We do not treat those as competing. The governance is what lets you scale past the pilot stage, and the measurement is what keeps the programme funded. You work directly with our senior practitioners — deep expertise without the overhead structures of larger firms.

How this practice connects to the rest

Automation is where governed capability becomes operational value. Most engagements draw on more than one practice.

The next step

What is your automation estate actually worth?

If the answer is uncertain, that is the conversation to have. Whether you are starting from nothing, stalled after a promising pilot, or running an estate nobody can put a value on, we will give you an honest read on where you stand and what it takes to move.
