Design and implement a strategic automation capability and leverage it to group level.
The requirement was not a set of individual automations but an operating capability — one that operating companies across the group could draw on, that scaled on demand, and whose value could be demonstrated to boards rather than asserted.

What we delivered

A federated service, with the value proven

Fully designed and implemented a federated Intelligent Automation Service, giving operating companies access to a shared capability while retaining their own delivery priorities.
Supplied a complete team, from Interim Head of Intelligent Automation through to technical engineers — leadership and delivery from a single source.
Developed and implemented a Target Operating Model that doubled the client’s annual benefit, by changing how automation was owned, prioritised and run rather than simply building more of it.
Created fully automated, auditable and transparent benefits realisation reporting, with value tracking that let the client see the real benefits rather than the projected ones.
Capacity scalable on demand through cloud-based delivery capability, so the service flexed with the pipeline instead of being sized for peak.
Followed internal governance processes including cyber security, so the automation estate was built inside the client’s existing control framework rather than alongside it.
Delivered an eight-figure benefits increase, of which 79.9% was EBITDA impact — comprising 46.5% new revenue, 15.0% cost reduction and 17.4% cost avoidance, with a further 21% of benefits realised as upgrades to delivery and capacity.
Enabled expansion into a new market sector, creating a substantive new revenue stream and retaining customers who would otherwise have been at risk.

Adopted at board level, across every operating company

Adopted at board level and integrated into the three-year strategy, with the Intelligent Automation strategy secured across the various operating company boards.
Significant impact on EBITDA, evidenced through the automated benefits reporting rather than estimated.
Larger market share gained, contract leakage reduced and Net Promoter Score improved.
The programme earned our client the AI25 Thought Innovation and Leadership Award and a finalist place in the Artificial Intelligence Project of the Year category at the IT Industry Awards. We went on to represent the client on their automation vendor’s product advisory council, and to develop supplier certification on a par with traditional Platinum Partners.
