CASE STUDY FOUR

About the client

A global retail organisation with multiple brands.

Project challenges and goals

  • The project's overall aim was to facilitate and support an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The organisation previously had an ISMS in place, however it was fragmented across the various operating companies and was not delivering the desired results.
  • Cyberbase were engaged following project start up. It was initially apparent that there was a high degree of uncertainty and confusion concerning some of the operational companies. In very short time Cyberbase instilled an understanding about the need to create a systematic approach to information security practices. This involved engagement with C level stakeholders, initiating, planning, and executing activities to achieve the agreed goals within the defined scope.

What was delivered

  • A high-level ISMS that resonated with the organisation's goals and objectives and aligned all the operating companies under one banner.

Project outcome

  • Having many organisational entities aligned under a single ISMS has yielded vast benefits.
  • Technologies are now centralised to deliver a unified service
  • Employees now work towards common goals and objectives
  • Processes are aligned to deliver core security features, which means that confidentiality, integrity and availability of information as well as operational activities are cohesive across the organisation.
  • Additional benefits realised were the identification of risks concerning information processing, operational resilience, reputational damage from cyber-attacks, and centralisation of technology, generating cost benefits and greater visibility over assets and management.
